ASEAN NHRI Forum Convenes for the 3rd HLP Dialogue in Manila, Philippines |

The ASEAN NHRI Forum consulted each other during their preparatory meeting on 10 September 2008 at the Emerald Room of the Diamond Hotel in Manila. This meeting was in preparation to the Third Meeting of the High Level Panel (HLP) on the Drafting of the Terms of Reference (TOR) of an ASEAN Human Rights Body (AHRB).
During the meeting, the body discussed the latest developments in drafting the TOR of the AHRB. The body was encouraged to talk about the mandates and/or principles as evolutionary approach that will not collide with the point of reference. The meeting drafted a position paper expressing the stand of the four human rights commissions in terms of the TOR of the AHRB. NHRC Thailand Commissioner Khunying (Lady) Ambhorn Meesook discussed the position paper during the HLP meeting on 11 September 2008.
