ASEAN NHRI Forum Holds First TWG Meeting in Cebu PDF Print E-mail

The ASEAN NHRI Forum held its first Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on 28-30 April 2008 in Cebu, Philippines.  As inspired by former Komnas HAM Commissioner Prof. Enny Soeprapto, the four NHRIs convened to finalize the proposed TOR for the establishment of an ASEAN Human Rights Body (AHRB) and to discuss further the joint projects under the Framework of Cooperation.

Representatives from the Secretariat of the Regional Working Group for the Establishment of an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, Atty. Ray Paolo Santiago, and the Delegation of the European Commission to the Philippines, Ms. Romina Sta. Clara, participated in the discussions on issues pertaining to the creation of an AHRB and operational support to the ASEAN NHRI Forum.
